Эволюция морали

Как широко известно, в Торе в начале главы "Ки Тейце" приводятся правила обращения солдат с нееврейскими пленницами (т.н. "закон о красивой женщине", Второзаконие 21:10-14), в рамках которых свежезахваченных женщин можно поиметь один раз, даже против их воли. Уже в Талмуде объясняется (ТБ Кидушин 21б), что это уступка нравам времени: регулировка того, что вообще-то следовало бы запретить, но такого "народ не поймёт"; а значит, "если безобразие не удаётся прекратить, его нужно возглавить." Позднее же, когда моральное самоощущение общества готово признать безобразие, можно и запретить.

Недавно в процессе небольшого разговора моё внимание было обращено на другой подобный случай. Тора предписывает создание городов-убежищ для случайных убийц, в которых такой человек может укрыться от кровного мщения. Про намеренного же убийцу сказано (Второзаконие 19:11-12): "Но если будет кто-либо враждебен ближнему своему и будет подстерегать его, и восстанет на него, и поразит его насмерть, и тот умрет, и убежит (убийца) в один из городов этих; То пошлют старейшины его города, и возьмут его оттуда, и предадут его в руки кровомстителю, чтобы он умер."

То есть в те времена втолковывать народу насчёт государственной монополии на насилие и о смертном приговоре только как результате судебного процесса было бы бесполезно; максимум можно было преподать, что не всякое убийство обязательно должно караться смертью. Эволюция к этой идее тоже завершилась к талмудическим временам. Интересно, обращал ли кто-нибудь на это внимание?

Je suis retraité depuis ce printemps. Donc, j’avais les vacances de printemps, puis les vacances d’été, puis les vacances d’automne. Alors, je veux vous décrire juste un jour de mes vacances, qui était dimanche dernier.

Après avoir fait notre partie de Duolingo (français), nous sommes allés au Estang, pour visiter leur vide grenier. Cette fois il n’y avait pas beaucoup de gens, mais c’était pourtant assez intéressant. Je regardais des vieux livres, comme un dictionnaire de Français, imprimé en 1825, etc; j’ai remarqué une grande arbalète, et la femme qui le vendait m’a inviter à l'essayer, mais non, je n’aime ces trucs faux. Ma femme a trouver une poupée, extremement belle, habillée dans une robe comme c’est le 18éme siècle - mais elle était trop chère. En tout cas, l'événement était un plaisir.

Puis nous sommes allés au musée, mais premièrement nous nous sommes arrêtés dans la forêt de Maupas, pour déjeuner et pour aller chercher des champignons. La forêt est vraiment belle, mais où sont les champignons? Il y en avait quelques uns, mais pas de bon type et de qualité. Nous nous sommes promenés dans la forêt, avons trouvé plein de buissons de mûres (ce sont des baies noires et sucrées.

Après la forêt, nous avons visité un musée très impressionnant, le Musée de Paysan Gascogne.

C’est un petit musée, où nous avons beaucoup appris. D’où vient la vigne dans ce monde (c'est la Géorgie); comment on travaille avec les vignes, comment on fait le vin, etc. L’énorme presse de raisin, 5 mètres par 5 mètres, c’est incroyable. Dans les autres salles vous voyez des vieilles machines agricoles (je ne me souviens d'aucun nom que la batteuse); le tisserand (la machine pour faire la toile), les outils de menuiserie (pour travailler avec le bois).

Puis vous voyez un métier à ferrer, où ils mettent les fers aux chevaux et aux vaches.

Après ça vous pouvez visiter la maison de brassier. Qui est le brassier? C’est un journalier, un ouvrier qui est embauché jour par jour. La maison est si facile de construire, du bois, argile et paille, qu’on peut le détruire et reconstruire très vite, avec des nouveaux argile et paille. Mais cette maison-là, elle a été déplacée de Toulouse et il a pris 4 années pour la reconstruire.

Finalement, vous visitez la “maison bourgeoise”, où vous trouverez la vie aussi pauvre, mais un petit peu plus riche des propriétaires. Il y a des détails intimes de leur vie que je ne vais pas décrire ici.

Finalement, nous étions complètement épuisés. C’était seulement un jour de ma vie de vacances.

Обычно я стараюсь комментировать посты Трампа только если они как-то связаны с событиями в реальном мире. Но тут строго обратный случай: Трамп запостил сгенерированное видео о себе любимом, в котором упоминаются некие "medbeds" — сверхсекретная медицинская технология, спекуляции о существовании которой циркулируют в глубинах культа Кью-анона. И вот теперь в скором времени эти медкровати станут доступны каждому американцу, но не всем сразу, следите за анонсами.

То, что с появлением генеративного ИИ стоит ожидать лавины фейковых видео о политиках, изначально было понятно. Но Трамп запостил фейк о самом себе. Зачем? Он не понимает, что это фейк? Или ему все равно? С нетерпением жду, что нам по об этом расскажет в понедельник Каролайн Левитт.

К слову, люди, которые верят в существование секретных медицинских чудо-технологий — это те же люди, которые полагают что телекомпания может посреди недели отменить вечернее шоу из-за низких рейтингов, не имея наготове никакой замены — или же это лишь частично пересекающиеся круги?

Upd. Трамп пост удалил (здесь копия) — а может, медсестра удалила, кто его знает — что в свою очередь порождает вопросы, на которые Каролайн Левитт отвечать точно не будет.

Сегодня на Кубе скончалась пламенная революционерка Assata Shakur, прославившаяся убийством гаишника и последующим побегом из тюрьмы. Вообще, у нее там длинный послужной список, включающий ограбление банков и метание гранаты в полицейскую машину, но посадить ее удалось только за убийство.

Партия демократических социалистов и профсоюз учителей Чикаго сочли нужным почтить ее память, хотя я не очень понимаю, в чем состоит ее вклад в политику, философию и культуру.

Она была, кстати, на год моложе Трампа. Всем этим красным и черным террористам конца 60-х/начала 70-х сейчас уже должно быть далеко за семьдесят.

Полюбившиеся Трампу термин "the radical left" и песня "YMCA" — из той эпохи. Вероятно, когда он обзывает Нэнси Пелоси или Джеймса Коми "сумасшедшими лево-радикалами", это напоминает ему о молодости.

А вчера заодно скончалась покушавшаяся на Форда Sara Jane Moore но она была лет на 15 старше, и попыткой убийства президента ее революционная деятельность, собственно, ограничилась.

Я не знаю, правда или нет, что спикер Джонсон задерживает приведение к присяге новоизбранную представительницу Аделиту Грихалву из Тусона потому, что ее голос должен стать решающим для одобрения резолюции об обнародовании "файлов Эпштейна", или же он это делает по каким-то другим соображениям, но у меня иногда создается такое впечатление, что для некоторых руководителей республиканской партии конституционная демократия как таковая не представляет собой большой самостоятельной ценности.

Почему, кстати, Tucson произносится как Тусон? Более-менее правдоподобные спекуляции на сей счет содержатся в этом треде на Реддите. Вкратце, наименование происходит из языка местных индейцев, но в фонотактике испанского кластер 'ks' нестабилен, и, возможно, англоязычные поселенцы подражали тем испаноязычным жителям, которые редуцировали его до 's'.

На протяжении многих-многих лет защитники второй поправки твердили, что она нужна, чтобы защитить свободу от тирании. Никакого конкретного плана, что нужно делать в случае угрозы наступления тирании — где собираться, что с собой брать, куда ехать, какие учреждения оборонять, какие объекты штурмовать — за этим постулатом не просматривалось. Тем не менее, популярность этой идеи выходила далеко за пределы консервативных кругов. Сложившаяся субкультура gun nuts неизбежно притягивала к себе не вполне уравновешенных людей с краев любого политического направления.

Соответственно, когда на горизонте появляется реальный или мнимый призрак тирании, отдельные граждане начинают импровизировать. Кто-то хватается за ружье, чтобы бороться с "ковидной тиранией", кто-то уверовал во всесилие злокозненного ФБР, кто-то устал ждать разоблачения заговора педофилов, кто-то решил лично воспрепятствовать планам либеральных элит заменить белое население цветными иммигрантами. Исходящая от нынешнего режима вполне реальная угроза авторитаризма, естественно, не станет исключением. Также вполне естественно и то, что всякий инцидент со стрельбой в направлении функционеров режима будет на всю катушку раскручен его пропагандистами с целью дальнейшего закручивания гаек. Если процесс закручивания гаек упрется в некие конституционные пределы, то пул граждан, готовых залезть на крышу со снайперской винтовкой, вскорости исчерпается, и рандомизированная стрельба не примет форму организованной партизанщины; если не упрется - тогда не знаю.

На ум приходит концепция, введенная Хананией: если комментарий содержит меньше информации, чем можно получить просто из чтения новостей, то он представляет собой отрицательную информационную ценность.

Поскольку предыдущий пост проапдейтчен уже до полной нечитабельности, попробую заново и по порядку.

В конце октября 2016-го, за неделю до выборов, WSJ публикует статью о расследованиях, проводимых ФБР касательно Хиллари Клинтон. Сама статья — за пейволом, но, по счастью, какой-то иранский сайт украл ее целиком.

В статье содержится следующий пассаж:

"According to a person familiar with the probes, on Aug. 12, a senior Justice Department official called McCabe to voice his displeasure at finding that New York FBI agents were still openly pursuing the Clinton Foundation probe during the election season. McCabe said agents still had the authority to pursue the issue as long as they didn’t use overt methods requiring Justice Department approvals.

The Justice Department official was “very pissed off,” according to one person close to McCabe, and pressed him to explain why the FBI was still chasing a matter the department considered dormant..." etc.

Согласно выводам из отчета DOJ Inspector General (2018), Маккейб проинструктировал свою помощницу поделиться с журналистом WSJ деталями этого телефонного разговора.

Как отмечено на первой странице отчета, "The disclosure to the WSJ effectively confirmed the existence of the [Clinton Foundation] Investigation, which then-FBI Director Comey had previously refused to do".

NB Сами по себе такого рода утечки не запрещены, если они проводятся "в интересах общества".

Дальше, по словам Маккейба, он поставил в известность Коми о том, что он поручил своей помощнице поделиться с журналистом деталями разговора, в котором, тем самым, и так далее.

Коми это то ли пропустил мимо ушей, то ли одобрительно хмыкнул, то ли неодобрительно хмыкнул. ("McCabe told us that Comey “did not react negatively, just kind of accepted it.”")

Впоследствии, сенатор Тед Круз будет утверждать, что таким образом Коми одобрил утечку задним числом ("effectively authorized the leak after the fact").

Коми же утверждал, что ни о чем таком Маккейб ему не говорил, наоборот — изображал обеспокоенность утечками.

В итоге, генерал-инспектор решил, что версия Коми заслуживает больше доверия, чем версия Маккейба, отчитал Маккейба за "lack of candor", и Маккейб был уволен (Трампом) за несколько часов до выхода на пенсию.

В 2017-м году на сенатских слушаниях Коми спросили, одобрял ли он утечки о расследовании Клинтон (или Трампа). Он ответил — "нет".

В 2020-м его снова об этом спросили (Тед Круз спросил) — и он сказал, что он придерживается своих предыдущих показаний.

И вот теперь ему предъявлено обвинение в том, что он в 2020-м году таким образом ввел в заблуждение Конгресс и затруднил его работу.

NB Расследование Clinton Foundation окончилось ничем. Утечек о расследовании российских связей Трампа до выборов не было.
